On behalf of the Archaeoorientalist team, we would like to invite you to a lecture by Dr. Tomasz Michalik (Centre for Mediterranean Archaeology UW), who, as part of Archaeoorientalist project, is researching cultural differences using eye-tracking. The lecture will be held on 8 April at 16:30 in the auditorium at 69 Hoża Street.
Studying Cultural Differences with Eye-Tracking: A Brief Introduction to the Method and Its Applications
Eye movement and fixation records provide valuable insights into how we visually engage with the world around us. Analyzing these records can be particularly beneficial in studies of cross-cultural differences, as our cultural background influences how and what we focus our visual attention on. One method for recording gaze paths is eye tracking.
During the talk, I will present the fundamental assumptions of this research method and then, using examples from existing literature and my own research conducted in Sudan and Poland on the perception of Nubian art, demonstrate its application in cross-cultural research.
This lecture serves as a brief guide to the world of eye-tracking, targeting anyone interested in this research method, as well as those seeking new insights into studying cross-cultural differences.
