Annual meeting of first-year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies with representatives of diplomatic missions of Asian and African countries
On April 7, 2025, for the thirtieth time, first-year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw met with representatives of diplomatic missions from Asian and African countries accredited in Poland. The event provides an opportunity for direct contact not only with diplomats but, above all, with representatives of Asian and African nations and cultures.
Students talked to diplomats and received promotional materials and tasted national dishes of Asian and African countries.
This year, 22 embassies and more than 30 diplomats attended, including 11 ambassadors and chargé d’affaires. The meeting was opened by the Rector of the UW Prof. Alojzy Nowak. On the part of the UW authorities, the following also participated: Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching and Learning, Prof. Maciej Raś, Vice-Rector for Development, Prof. Ewa Krogulec, Vice-Rector for Doctoral and Legal Affairs, Prof. Adam Niewiadomski, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Human Resources, Prof. Sambor Grucza. The Faculty of Oriental Studies was represented by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzyńska, the main host, and the Vice-Deans Dr. Marta Widy-Behiesse and Dr. Józef Pawłowski.
