Summary of the Orient Fair organized by the Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies in collaboration with the Faculty authorities
The Orient Fair has once again achieved tremendous success!
During this year’s edition of the charitable Orient Fair, organized by the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Student Council of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, we managed to collect a remarkable amount of 6,227.41 PLN. The entire sum will be donated to the Polish Center for International Aid, which is conducting a humanitarian operation in South Sudan.
The fair was ceremonially opened by Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Teaching and Learning, Prof. Maciej Raś, along with the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Oriental Studies: Dean Prof. Agata Bareja-Starzyńska and Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Marta Widy-Behiesse.
During the fair, participants had the opportunity to purchase various items donated by event partners and individual contributors. Adding to the attraction were stalls set up by academic clubs from the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Participating in the event were the Interdepartmental Africanist Club at UW, the Japanese Academic Club “Maru,” the Japanese Literature Club, the Sinology Academic Club, and the Eastern Cultures Club.
Concurrent with the fair was a scientific conference titled “Cultural Aspects of Humanitarian Aid in Asia and Africa,” featuring presentations by representatives from the Polish Center for International Aid, among others. The evening concluded with an event organized under the fair’s banner by the Scientific Club of Eastern European Studies titled “Northern and Southern Kazakhstan: Is it possible to create a unified image of the country?”
