On behalf of the organizers we would like to invite you to the 9th International Conference: New Horizons in Oriental Studies which will be held online on December 8-9, 2020.

The conference is traditionally organized jointly by the Committee of Oriental Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw.

The recent advances and developments in the field of Oriental and African studies including new tools (digital philology, computational linguistics, online teaching platforms etc.) require a wider reflection and discussion. It is hoped that the scholars gathered at our conference will contribute to better understanding of the new phase of the Oriental studies and share their knowledge and experience with other participants. 

We plan two parts of the conference: senior scholars papers to be read on December 8^th, 2020 and junior scholars papers to be presented on December 9^th, 2020.

By “junior scholar” we understand those who are graduate students, Ph.D. candidates and young researchers who gained a Ph.D. title up to five years ago.

We will be much honoured if you would attend the conference and deliver a paper (20 minutes) referring to your current work, its results and applied methodologies.

We do hope that the conference will become a forum for a fruitful scholarly discussion and exchange of opinions.

Please let us know the title of your paper/presentation and your abstract (in English, senior scholars up to 500 words, junior scholars up to 1000 words) by October 31, 2020 to:

Please fill in the conference registration form. Notification about paper acceptance will be sent by November 10^th, 2020.

The conference fee (covering conference materials) is 100 zloty (ca. 25 Euro).

More details will be sent to the conference participants after November 10^th, 2020.
